The importance of maintaining your watch
Like a car, the mechanics of your watch wear out over time (friction, temperature variations, daily wear). This leads to various issues that can affect your watch and its accuracy: the mechanism wears down over time, and oils dry out (even for a watch stored in a safe!); the watch may run slow or fast; the power reserve weakens, and the risk of breakage increases...
What is a full service?
A full service involves a series of technical operations performed in a specific sequence. It includes a thorough cleaning of the movement after disassembly, followed by reassembly and precise lubrication. Each movement requires specific knowledge of its mechanics to ensure optimal performance. The 41Watch workshop consists of skilled watchmakers who bring their experience and expertise to your watch while preserving its originality and value. Therefore, only wear-and-tear components, such as the mainspring or reversing wheels, are replaced, and only with the client’s approval.
The Steps of a Full Service
Servicing a watch requires precision and cannot be improvised. The steps are numerous and detailed. It is essential to follow a specific order to ensure:
- that the watch is handled with the utmost care
- that the watch remains in perfect working condition after its complete service, ensuring optimal performance
Some brands require specific tools for opening, and certain oils are suited to specific models... For these particular brands, the process differs slightly, which explains the specific pricing.
